Larien's Journal - 17 Sypheros

At last I am a member of the guild instead of a slave to it. Now instead of Ragnolin paying me, I'm now paying him. But should I die a glorious death, I shall not need to pay any dues!

I have come to accept the fact that we are letting the warforged be the leader of our party in combat. His tactics are sound, but as a group we are still a bit inexperienced. On the other hand, I'd like to shoot the dimwitted Cleric myself as he has charged first into battle on more than one occasion. It was funny to have the Cleric ask me why I do more damage than he does. I wanted to tell him to spend more time at his church and pray for some skill, but I might need him to heal my ass one day.

I hear the squabbling of these men, and it reminds me of the other full-time bar wenches back at the Guildhouse who constantly bitch and complain. I would tell them to just give it more time to trust and rely on each other as a group as many of us still green to battle. But then some of them started talking about their faith and a silver flame and I lost total interest in the conversation. Such egos in this party. The quiet one, Ethan, seems to be one I can rely on. He is smart in how he deals with the enemy and he often tells me he has my back -- hopefully in a good way.

I am a warrior.
I'm a tactical warrior.
I feel like more of an assassin.
I rely on stealth and slaying my foes from afar.

Can I really have a glorious battle when I rarely face my enemies toe to toe? I suppose there will come a day where I will be face to face with foe -- are these the types of battles my patron ancestor wishes me to engage in? Or can I find glory in how I operate now?

Larien's Journal - 8 Rhaan, 998 YK

I am a warrior.
This victory is mine.

I had awoke this morning with Rolen Varalos on my mind. My patron ancestor had guided me on this path -- a questionable path. I find myself associating with men that don't think twice to kill someone in their sleep, or someone who is unarmed.

As we proceeded towards the mine, we came across a wagon that was being attacked by spitting Drakes and Needlefang Swarms. I easily slayed the drakes while my counterparts took care of the swarms. This was a good warmup to what was to come.

At the mine, we noticed two guard towers as we approached. Ethan and myself proceeded forth to scout the area. Little did we know that some foul goblins were going to attack at the same time as we were. I could not help but shoot at them. My hatred for them burns deep -- the history of my people and my ancestors will never let me to forget these wretched vermin.

I could not help but to shoot.
None of us died.

Death is my business.
I was very busy at work today.

Larien's Journal - 21 Barrakas, 998 YK

The taste of combat is on the tip of my tongue. I'm starting to feel alive again. I was questioning why I was still hanging around the Clifftop Adventurer's Guild. Yes, it was a good place to learn some new skills and pickup a few tips and tricks, but it hasn't satisfied my need for battle and glory.

I figure things are starting to turn around -- lets see where we go from here.

Finally, I'll be able to prove my abilities to both Earnin and Ragnolin and finally shed my wench-like duties at the guildhouse. I am a warrior. I shouldn't need to spend my mornings making bread and waiting tables like a 2 copper whore. And I sure hell hope that "tin can" warforged doesn't end up bringing that tea he makes to the guildhouse. Damn it's good, but I don't need to see any more perverts in the guildhouse each morning.

Larien’s Journal - 7 Barrakas, 998 YK

I am a warrior.
Death is my business.

But why in the bloody hell do I have to be on my rag? Worst timing ever...

The boys were saying that there were some thugs from the Deathsgate Adventuring Guild that were robbing someone in front of the guildhouse. Dammit, I should have been there. My bow is under the bar and my fingers are so itchy for combat. Crap I'm so mad!

Death is my business.

Those guys better f-ing take me to the Black Pit with them...

Larien Felagund - Background

Background:
When I was born, the Keepers of the Past had proclaimed from the signs that my patron ancestor was Rolen Varalos, and that he would be my guide through life and beyond. Rolen Varalos, a legendary archer, was key in the Dhakaani-Tairn War as he singlehandedly turned the tide of a battle with his bow. His most renown battles were during the defense against the Dhakaani Kech Volaar clan. Rolen valiantly fought on the front lines, maiming and killing several hundred Dhakaani in defense of his homeland – up until the attack of the dragons. He fearlessly fought and was slain by a one-eyed dragon, a dragon which he had fought previously and had deftly shot in one of its two good eyes.

Through the years I have lived my life as a warrior. I know not where my blood family is. I vaguely remember their faces. My first charge is to my patron ancestor, and next to my warband. My blood family has almost been forgotten.
I am a warrior.

The only friend on my journey is my bow.

I cannot heal.

I cannot cast spells.

I cannot pray to the gods and have them answered.

Death is my business.

Be it your death, or be it mine.

Should our weapons cross and our wills collide, may the better warrior win.
I took leave of my military warband, Amap'Ceo, in order to follow my patron ancestor's guidance to achieve greatness in this world through battles and adventure. I find myself in Sharn at the Clifftop Adventurers' Guild, waking up for the early shift to bake bread and then to assist with meals in the Guildhouse at breakfast. I make acquaintances quickly and easily. Being a woman breaks down some barriers easily put up by the strongest and fiercest of men. I'm seen to all as a "pretty face" and the experienced Guild members take pride in trying to show me the ropes so to speak. At times I use this to my advantage where possible – my body serves its purpose, my mind always focused on combat.

This is only a means to the end – glorious battles in the name of Rolen Varalos.
